Winners Named in Rhode Island Business Competition

PROVIDENCE - (May 13, 2020) - A mechanical engineer and his team who have designed, manufactured, and marketed electric outboard marine motors for the boating industry today was named the top winner in the 2020 Rhode Island Business Competition, which awarded prizes valued in excess of $180,000 to six competitors.

Jonathan Lord, of Narragansett, whose business, Flux Marine Ltd., was declared the top winner, took home $50,525 in winnings – $10,000 in cash and $40,525 in professional and consulting services as the Entrepreneur Track winner, plus a $15,000 bonus cash award.

Winners were announced at a virtual awards ceremony.

Lord will automatically be eligible to enter the $50,000 Cox Business Get Started Rhode Island pitch contest, to be held September 30th, as a semi-finalist.

Flux Marine's zero-emissions electric outboard boat motors bring the marine industry into a sustainable energy future. The idea for this was their unsinkable passion for boating and the environment.
