E. Elizabeth Carter Named Executive Director of the Rhode Island Business Competition
PROVIDENCE - (September 4, 2019) - The Rhode Island Business Competition has announced the appointment of E. Elizabeth "Beth" Carter as Executive Director of the Rhode Island Business Competition. Peter Lowy is stepping down to pursue strategy and marketing consulting assignments after serving in this role since the organization was established in 2000.
Carter is a Human Capital Leadership and Development Specialist and currently is the owner of Carter Consultants Ltd., an international executive search firm, and Beth Carter Enterprises, a corporate training and coaching company. Beth has been an entrepreneur since 1991 and she has extensive experience in leadership and management development, recruitment, and marketing and sales. She received her undergraduate degree from Bryant University and her MBA from Baruch College. She is the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Chamber Member from the East Bay Chamber of Commerce.

The Rhode Island Business Competition aims to create and foster growth companies in Rhode Island that will increase local employment. This non-profit is supported by a broad range of sponsors that include private businesses, investors, foundations, colleges and universities, public entities, nonprofit organizations, and former competitors. Today, it is the leading community-supported business plan competition in the Northeast. The Competition encourages plans for new businesses, as well as from early stage companies.
The Competition 2020 Kick-Off event will be held on Wednesday, October 9th from 5:30-7:00 pm at Venture Cafe at District Hall in Providence.
